DYI China Cabinet

This charming china cabinet started out as an ugly duckling! NO OFFENSE... to the original owner of china cabinet! We just have different taste! I was a dark brown color that unaware to me was painted with oil paint! For pulls and knobs it adorned deer antlers! I like the, "log cabin/hunting lodge," look in log cabins or hunting lodges... I with typical cleaning and sanding furniture, then added the first of the white wash technique. Let it dry for 20 minuets. The cabinet soaked the wash up like it wasn't even there! To my dismay -  I tried again... same thing happened! It finally occurred to me, (and help from Miss Janice,) that it was first painted with oil paint. Oldest lesson in the book... you SHOULD/CAN NOT paint latex/acrylic on oil! You can, however do the reverse. In this case, I tried various techniques to get the desired look of the china cabinet! I'm just glad this was a faux finish job! Thanks to my dearest friend for letting refinish her china cabinet.
